Laser Engraving vs UV Printing vs Foil Stamping: Which Branding Suits Your Gift?
The same logo can look luxurious or cheap depending on the technique. Here's how to choose.
| Technique | Best on | Look | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laser engraving | Metal pens, bottles, card cases, mobile stands | Crisp, tone-on-tone or bright metal | Permanent |
| Blind deboss | Diaries, wallets, passport covers | Pressed-in, no colour — understated luxury | Permanent |
| Foil stamping | Diaries, boxes | Gold or silver shine | Long-lasting |
| UV printing | Flat surfaces, plates | Full colour | Good; can wear with heavy use |
| Engraved plates | Desk organisers, trophies | Brushed gold with dark text | Permanent |
Rules of thumb
- If your logo works in one colour, engrave or deboss — it always looks more premium.
- Use foil for festive gifts where a bit of shine is welcome.
- Keep logos to about 30–40% of the surface width.
- Always ask for a digital proof — we send one on WhatsApp before production.
Preparing your logo file
Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) give the cleanest results because they scale without blurring. A high-resolution PNG can work for simple logos. For engraving and debossing, a one-colour version of the logo is needed — if you don't have one, we can prepare it as part of the proof.
Fine details and small sizes
Very thin lines and tiny text can fill in or disappear on small surfaces like pen barrels. If your logo has a tagline, consider leaving it out on small items and keeping it for diaries and plates.
Names in bulk
All these techniques can carry individual names. Laser engraving is the fastest for names on metal, while foil and deboss on leather-finish goods need a little more time per piece — plan accordingly for large orders.
